…a traffic cone, a traffic cone… my kingdom for a traffic cone…

ccone

Master Gallacher’s travels continued last weekend… from the vast urban sprawl that is Manchester, the great Iron Horse system crossed the Pennines and up into North of Hadrian’s Wall and reached an even sprawlier urban metropolis in the guise of Glasgow… my home city… welcomed home for the latter part of the train journey by the presence of a gentlemen of military occupation who had indulged rather more electric soup than would have laid flat a rhinoceros (if a rhinoceros were ever allowed an alcohol license)… his constant and uberloud stream of gibberish was brought to an abrupt halt somewhere around Motherwell Station… we were all in the first class compartment, including the returning soldier-man, when an elegantly attired lady, of equally attractive personal looks, rose to put on her jacket prior to leaving the train… Mister Military shouted to her hey, are you single?’… she replied ‘No’… he then shouted, ‘would you like to be married?’… over her shoulder as she left the carriage, she called back to him, ‘yes… but not to you!’… the ensuing laughter from the rest of the passengers seemed to have a strangely quieting effect on the would be Casanova …ah, Scots, lassies, eh?… the overnight stop in Glasgow enabled the congregation of more fellow-trudgers on the Web, in the superb company of Frank Muir, Carole, Barb Taub, Judith Walker and family (with hubby and son in magnificent triumverence)…

…external walkies provided the opportunity to get photographed with the statue of the ‘Chookie Wellin’tin’, aka The Duke of Wellington, adorned with its ubiquitous traffic cone (see above)… straight from the Glasgow Corporation Roadways Millinery Department… clip-clopping away from the Wellington Equestrian, I caught up with my sister Kate

…Gallacher’s Travels… among the literary giants in Manchester…

aaaa

…I’m a Manchester United fan…(so now, in one shot, I’ve prob’ly lost the 80%+ followers I had who follow Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, City and diverse other football clubs)… those who are similarly minded to support the Reds would say that reason alone is enuff to justify my sojourn in that great northern metropolis… but nay, my journey there was of different purpose… firstly, it’s the transit point for my ongoing travels toward Glasgow, and ultimately to the Island of Mull… of both of which, more later… secondly, to meet with fellow scribblers and others who regularly spend time in the virtual ether with me per Facebook, Twitter, Bloggery, et al… the City Centre Holiday Inn had arranged the usual high-level security arrangements to hold back the expected legions of fans… the triple-coded special passes permitted the entry of the chosen few, namely Sally and Stephen Cunliffe, Paul, April Taylor, and Sandra Robinson…and one other  skulking skulker skulked skillfully through the barriers to join us… the amazing Glen Stansfield, clad in magnificent leathery leathers, having driven by motor bike over 200 miles from Banbury to be with us in Manchester… and he lives only a few kilometres from me in Bahrain!… go figure… writers ARE mad… the magical chemistry that binds the authorial family played its role during a morning schedule that was supposed to end at midday, but extended out closer to two o’clock… sharing and chatting, plain blethering, is a superb way to pass several hours… and I didn’t even wander away to Old Trafford to see my ‘other’ team…. thanks to all who made the time and effort to come and be part of a great morning for this ol’ Jurassic writer… see yeez later… LUV YEEZ!

…Authors… progress report on the initial GoReadMe! Campaign…

…the throwaway line in one of my blog posts last week which instantly transformed into SUM’THING BIGGER THAN ALL OF US, ‘coz my pal, the tireless-WURK-for-other-scribblers, Susan Toy, turned it into a real event… instead of the ‘GoFundMe’ begging pleas we see ad inforeverum for various projects, m’Lady, Sue invented the ‘GoReadMe! Campaign’, which invites people to read one book from a chosen author, and then for each of these readers simple to tell sumb’dy else about the book and that author… reviews are great, but this is even more focused in terms of helping writers get readership… Master Gallacher, ‘ere, is the first one up, ‘Guinea Pig Gallacher’ if yeez like, known to many simply as ‘Pig’, but that’s another story… I’m tracking the good folks who’ve already declared their participation in supporting the campaign, and I’m sure there are many more who are doing so, whose names are not yet on my ‘rally-tally-sheet’… the instant impact on my Amazon Author Sales page shows an immediate spike in the Kindle Unlimited pages read… I think the brilliant idea from m’Lady, Sue is WURKING… if emb’dy else wants to join in this initial push, my books are all available not only on Kindle proper, but also, as noted above, on Kindle Unlimited… here are the links:
