…Authors, that wonderful moment when yeez reunite with one of yer previous minor characters…

Cover for Violin Man

…I am, by all accounts, an Author… I am also by similar accounts more than a tad crazy, but I’ve just  repeated myself there… and the darned thing is, most of yeez Lads and Lassies of Blog Land will fully understand the drift of this blog post… seven years ago, when the first wee Jack Calder crime thriller masterpiece , THE VIOLIN MAN’S LEGACY, breezed innocently across the Amazon radar screen, little did I know back then how much the characters would go on to ROOL much of my waking hours… a subsequent series of three further books have since grabbed hold of the towlines on the Great God Amazon Kindle to join their sibling, and a fifth has booked a ticket to ride sum’time later this year… but back to the first tome… toward the latter part of the novel, I introduced a minor character, Rico, whose part in the narrative was kinda short-lived… yeez’ll be pleased to know I didn’t have him killed, (as is my usual practice), but allowed him to slip out of the book none the worse for his participation… but the fellow has such an appeal to me, that I promised myself if the chance ever cropped up, I’d like yeez to meet him again… without being ‘force-fed’ into the story, I’m delighted to announce Rico will make his ‘comeback’ in the current Work-In-Progress, DEADLY IMPASSE… and it’s like meeting a long lost pal… since his appearance in my draft notes, I’ve had a positive buzz in my head with his presence… the other main players in the masterpiece have told me they’re tickled to have him back aboard (what? don’t yer own characters talk to yeez like that?… No?… what kinda writers are yeez?)… by the way, Rico never had a formal surname… yer suggestions are welcome… he’s of South American origin, with some Latino/Spanish blood in him… see yeez later… LUV YEEZ!

  1. We are a crazy bunch aren’t we? I too have a minor character from my previous book showing up and having a wider presence in this book I’m working on. I feel good about it. 🙂 As for a last name to go with Rico….hm, I will give it some thought. But, I’m sure you will come up with something.

  3. Ah, I think I remember Rico. Was his surname Fixionata? 😀

  4. I love the way characters from an author’s book or books take up residence. From the prolific way you write, Seumas, you’re going to have to move to a larger flat in time. I think you’ll probably come up with a better surname for Rico than I could suggest. 🙂 — Suzanne
