…Author’s Christmas sales?… ANY day’s sales are a gift!…

…there seems to be no end of hyper-activity on the internet promotional channels for Authors and their ‘people’ pushing for ‘Christmas sales’ of their masterpieces… I grant yeez that books do make great presents, not just during the Christmas Season and Birthdays, but at any time… and having been plying my own stuff for the last few years on the Great God Amazon eBooks gig, I did the same thing in the first coupla years… and d’yeez know what?… there was no discernible difference from the norm in sales/drawdowns … don’t get me wrong… there’s never a bad time to market yer literary wares… all yeez Lads and Lassies of Blog Land who honour me by following this blog will be aware that I do it all the time (nicely, I hope)… but the advent of the Big-Woolly-White-Bearded-Lad-In-The-Red-Tunic-With-The-Reindeer-Huskies Day has not yet been a force in my promo campaigns…

…the gift for this ol’ Jurassic quill-scraper is the little-by-little daily ticking along of the sales charts… a lot of little makes a lot… I even saw a sale for SELF-PUBLISHING STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL SALES in Amazon, Italy yesterday… a market where usually my book sales are apparent by their absence… and I’m very grateful for that sale… the initial sale surges which my wee babies attracted has settled into a gratifying regular small drawdown across all my titles… in 2015, my great pals at Crooked Cat Publishing Crooked Cat Publishingwill be a significant factor is generating further markets and availability for my off’rings, so that already constitutes an early Christmas gift… so, permit me to add my meagre voice to the Babel online by mentioning where yeez can examine some of my output… and whether or not yeez feel motivated to dip into yer wallets, piggy banks, and pockets of yer significant others for cash with which to purloin any of these, may I proffer an early wish to all of yeez, Christmas adherents or not, a fabulous and healthy year ahead… may yer respective Gods be with yeez… see yeez later… LUV YEEZ!

  1. Boost your sales by writing a Christmas story…you’ve still got 17 days!

  2. Interesting piece, Suemas (how do you pronounce your name?). Actually, I’ve found the opposite when Crooked Cat puts my books on sale! But I’ve also found that on its own achieves nowt. I also need to promote the fact on FB and twitter (that reminds me, must go and tweet more). Christmas times I like, ’cause I add a signature on my annual emails to friends far and wide who dont frequent the internet. It works wonders – sometimes!

  5. I agree, Seumas, that marketing your book is for life not just for Christmas. You have to keep reminding people it’s out there. I sold 2 unexpectedly this morning at a small social event where I suggested it might make a nice Xmas present – to people who already knew about it; but I wouldn’t have sold them if I hadn’t asked. Keep a box of them in the back of the car. I’m quickly becoming my own rep. [P.S. Apols if this comment comes up twice – it disappeared the first time.]
