…I’ve long since wondered if I’m truly p’raps a closet engineer… despite the fact that anything mechanical I touch instantly (a) explodes (b) falls to bits, or (c) defies any of my efforts to get it to switch on… the reason for my wond’ring is that I’m fascinated by process… how things WURK… the step by step lead-up to final objectives… however, over the years, I’ve been equally amazed at the baffling lack of understanding that often takes place when process is being applied by people… human intervention… some may say it’s merely mindless following of supposed ‘ways of doing things’… f’r example, in my vocation as a corporate trouble-shooter, I’ve lost count of the number of occasions when sumb’dy is going through a procedural activity that is clearly all f*cked up… I ask, ‘why are yeez doing it that way?’… the answer, paraphrased is usually along the lines of, ‘well, coz Fred showed me how to do it’…. ‘where’s Fred?’… ‘oh, Fred died twelve years ago’… during one wondrous sojourn in Hong Kong, I visited the cafeteria of a major hotel, whose name will be omitted here to protect the guilty…it was 11.10 am… I asked for the full breakfast, price around HK Dollars 75… ‘sorry, Sir, we stop serving breakfast at 11.00 am’… now I really did want NUTHIN else but that marvellous breakfast… so I enquired if the chef could make me sum’thing kinda off-menu… being a major hotel, ‘no problem, sir,’ came the response… ‘right then, can I have a couple of fried eggs, over easy, three sausages, some beans, sautéed mushrooms and bacon, with some brown toast and marmalade on the side with a pot of coffee?’… ‘yes, coming up, Sir’… price, HK Dollars 55…
…yeez couldn’t make this stuff up… they still live and breathe among us, Lads and Lassies… be careful… it’s a culinary jungle out there…. see yeez later… LUV YEEZ!…

Dude. Can you order brek’ies for me too? That’s an amazing meal, but I see where you are going with this. I on the other hand, being a tradesman, take great satisfaction in being able to envision what something will look like before I start to build it. That is, except when it comes to writing. I’m a pantser (fly by the seat of my pants) and I love being surprised by what comes out’my head and through my fingers.

Common sense is in such short supply. As far as you don’t call it breakfast I guess it’s OK..
