..I’ll explain it again, Mabel…and prob’ly make it as clear as mud…Criticism versus Critique…#TBSU…

…if ye’ve ever missed yer stop on the Metro Underground system in any big city, chances are you’ll start to see the same stations flashing past yer eyes…same deal when ye start writing and venture to put yer masterpieces into the public domain…REVIEWS, Mabel,… the stuff that can transport ye to the pinnacle of ecstasy…or leave ye thrashing on the floor contorted with indignant rage and doubt-ridden angst…on the Richter Scale of Feedback, the range travels from TROLL  all the way up to EMBARRASSING SYCOPHANT…when ye’ve been on the SOSYAL NETWURKIN spinner for any length of time, the entire range comes yer way…nowhere in our primary, secondary or even tertiary education is much focus given on how to deal with any of these treacherous  elements…Rudyard Kipling’s treasured lines may be relevant...”if you can meet triumph and disaster and treat these two imposters just the same…”…it’s a bit like that…very few of we weavers of the written weft enjoy negative commentary on our literary spawn…but be assured enuff of that unperfumed debris will be fan-driven toward us at some time or other…so, what to do about it?…I’ve mentioned the system to deal with the TROLL vermin before now…basically thank them kindly, then block ‘em…less easily handled is the effusive gushing of p’raps Aunties, Grannies  and Uncles, bless ‘em…the onset of delusions of adequacy may result in taking over-heed of those…what ye want is to decipher the difference between CRITICISM and CRITIQUE... treat the former as ye wish, but I savour the honest, constructive feedback that comes in from the latter… from people whose opinion I respect…then earnestly try to take aboard their points…refine yer work, try it out, have another go, as they say…there, that’s clear now isn’t? No? Oh dear, I’d best go lie down for a while then, and think it through again ….. see yeez later…
